GROUPS

Group counseling provides a unique opportunity for people to connect with others going through similar issues. While individual counseling can offer a more personalized experience, group counseling can give you a different type of insight- one based on a shared experience and understanding.

People often enter treatment because they feel isolated. A group provides a built in community of support, and can help you see that you are not alone. The group itself becomes a wide and diverse sounding board, where you can hear multiple perspectives rather than just one.  Additionally, you can offer your own insight and knowledge to others, which promotes self-efficacy and self-esteem.

COUNSELING PROCESS

Group counseling definitely can take some getting used to- it’s natural to feel concerned about sharing your story with more than one person. Like individual counseling, it often it takes a few sessions to begin to feel comfortable. But once the group starts to connect, it can truly be an incredible experience.
