ADDICTION

Addiction is a chronic disease characterized by compulsive substance use despite harmful consequences. It often starts with casual or social use. But over time, it becomes more and more difficult to stop using. Seeking out the substance may become a compulsion- an irresistible urge that you cannot control. Eventually, one may become both psychologically and physically dependent on the substance, leading to withdrawal symptoms when the person stops using.

COUNSELING PROCESS

My model of addiction counseling is not a “one size fits all” model, because one type of treatment simply cannot be right for everyone. I’m here to meet you where you are in your recovery, wherever that may be.

The good news is that recovery is absolutely possible. In general, I highly recommend counseling as an addition to a recovery program (such as NA/AA or Refuge Recovery) in order to tackle addiction from all sides.
